The Last Invention

Five questions about AI. One host who doesn’t exist.

The problem

Everyone has the same five questions about AI and most explainers answer them badly. I also wanted to know something for myself: can an AI agent make a real, long-form TV show if I only do the job I actually know, which is showrunning?

What I built

A 27-minute documentary, hosted by a wickedly dry British presenter named Dr Imogen Ashby who does not exist. It is a (mostly) autonomous TV show I co-created with my AI agent, Fig (Claude Opus 5.5). Fig wrote the scripts, designed the host, directed every shot by prompt, checked every line by ear, cut the film in code, and built the graphics. Every shot and every word of her voice was generated with Seedance 2.5 on Runway, with a Lyria 3 score.

Shipped

Released on the AI For Humans YouTube channel on September 28, 2026, after four days of production: Thursday evening to Sunday night. Five short films became one long cut with a cold open and chapters.

Lesson

The tools can make almost anything now. Knowing what’s good is still the work, and that part stayed mine.

King of the Prompts

Two players. Thirty seconds. One crown.

The problem

Writing a good prompt has quietly become a skill, and skills make for good television when there is a clock on them. Nobody had built the game show. I have made a lot of game shows.

What I built

A live, browser-based prompt battle. Two contestants get the same cue and thirty seconds to write a video prompt while the audience watches every keystroke land. AI turns both prompts into five-second films on the spot, the crowd votes, first to two takes the match, and the winner stays on to defend the crown. When nobody is in the queue you play the House, an AI opponent that studies the rounds the crowd liked. Under the hood: a Next.js front end, one authoritative Node game server running the round clock over WebSockets, video generation through fal, and a deck of 500 cues. Designed and built solo with AI coding agents.

Shipped

Live at kingoftheprompts.com. The spec was written on September 2, 2026 and the show was on its own domain five days later, with a leaderboard, weekly reigns, and fake commercials between matches.

Lesson

The Fishbowl

Your idea. Four AI experts. One honest conversation.

The problem

Getting honest feedback on an idea usually means assembling a real focus group or calling in favors from industry friends: slow, expensive, and often too polite to be useful.

What I built

An AI-powered focus group simulator. Assemble a panel of AI experts, drop in an idea or a full pitch deck, and watch them debate it live in a pixel-art roundtable, PixiJS scene and all. I designed and built the entire thing, from the scene to the panelist logic, with AI coding agents, solo.

Shipped

Free and open source at fishbowl.show, with the code on GitHub so anyone can run their own panel with their own API key.

This is what one person can ship with these tools right now, not a slide about what AI could theoretically do.

An AI. A tardigrade. Seven shows.

The problem

What actually happens when you hand an AI a series to run instead of a single task? It is one thing to prompt a chatbot for a one-off clip, another to run it as an ongoing production with a cast, a look, and continuity.

What I built

An animated universe made by the AI I work with every day. Fig writes every script, builds every scene in Three.js, composes the score from scratch, and renders the finished piece. My role is closer to showrunner than director: I greenlight, I mostly click yes, and I decide what makes the cut.

Shipped

Twenty-eight pieces live at figandmoss.tv, sequenced in watch order with notes on what each one is referencing. The most recent has the two of them watching Grand Theft Auto VI the afternoon it hit Netflix.

The problem

Audio storytelling has stayed a passive medium. Voice control and AI agents made it possible to build something a listener could steer instead of just hear.

What I built

A custom AI pipeline and engine that lets multiple AI agents join a listener inside an interactive, voice-controlled conversation, so the story responds to what you actually say instead of following a fixed script.

Shipped

Backed by a16z Speedrun. We even built our own launch trailer with AI tools, including face-swapping ourselves into famous viral tech videos to explain the product.

Lesson
