New to twitter, avoided it because it's been described with too much similarity to facebook, and facebook is getting on my nerves. If I had to describe it, twitter is like your mailbox before the junk gets mixed in.

Oh and welcome to the Northeast, moved here myself last September.

Hi, Gavin!

Congratulations! Obviously, this is kind of late and your run with Late Night has already started. I think you all are doing a great job!

You mentioned on Twitter a couple of things you were working on and I just wanted to pass on some recommendations (should this even get to you).

Looking for a Southwest employee to bring on the show? Kaci Beeler recently won a contest to become Southwest's blog-o-spondent. Here's a link to her latest video blog: http://blogsouthwest.com/video/southwest-airlines-blog-o-spondent-chicago .

She's really awesome and I think she'd be a great guest! Plus, she could probably squeeze in a blog or two while in NY.

Looking for a video game to feature? Vin Diesel's The Wheelman (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Wheelman) is coming out in a few weeks. Shaun Himmerick is one of the producers of the game and he's a friend and a hell of a guy. He'd be a great guy to have on to push it. Here's an interview with him re: Wheelman: http://www.gamespot.com/xbox360/driving/wheelman/video/6189574/the-wheelman-interview

Hope this isn't too much of a hassle, but I thought this was the best way to get this info to you.

Thanks!

Gavin,

Excellent work bridging the online and broadcast worlds. I found the Times' Magazine article (and Virginia's lack of public response to your comment post afterwards) just another example of how some people with traditional media aren't getting it.

I'm not one of the PR guys saying that print/old media is dead, but they need to (and should have been) adapting at a greater pace.

Hopefully big things will come from your work with Jimmy. Enjoy NYC, email me if you want some ideas on divey bars and eats

Once, a long, long time ago before people started paying me to be a writer...I was a bartender. I worked the day shift at a very, very nice hotel in Beverly Hills. We considered day shifts to be "the graveyard." So one day Brandoff Tartikoff strolls in with a few minions in tow. By now he was gone from NBC and was Chairman of Such and Such at Paramount Pictures. So they sit, order a few sodas and wait, and wait, and wait, ultimately for Billy Bob Thornton whose, "Sling Blade" had just come out and before he won the Oscar. Billy Bob looked like shit to me but Brandon definitely never noticed. So they start talking about this 'n that and Billy Bob quietly orders a Bushmill's on ice just to get through the tedium of this thing. He slung 'em back, I kept serving it up, and Brandon kept talking. By the end of the meeting Billy Bob was kinda trashed and making jokes to me on the side. At its conclusion all shook hands about exactly what who even knew. Billy Bob stumbled out the front door me having had a front door guy get him a cab. Brandon asked for the check and never even looked to see exactly how many of those Bushmill's on ice Billy Bob had destroyed.

He signed thebBill, left me a nice tip and remarked enthusiastically how great the meeting went.

Yeah, I know Brandon was some sort of genius and you wanna know more about him. Well, here's more I guess.
